Just an old-school roleplayer looking for amusement. Please reach out in-game or via Discord DM if interested.

Romance & ERP
While my characters are reasonably open to romance, I do not ERP with other players. If things get heated, I fade to black. Please note: if romance is your ONLY goal, then I am not the RP partner for you.
~
Conflict Resolution
I prefer to work out conflict by mutual consent, as opposed to a dice-roll. Whatever best serves the narrative, that's usually the way I'll go.
~
Discord Preferred
Because my time is limited, I prefer Discord-based RP. I do RP in game, but when I get the chance to boot it up I usually prefer to quest, gpose, or otherwise run content.

Quality, But Also, Quantity
I believe that roleplaying is collaborative. I also believe we need to give each other enough material to work with, and I have trouble working with one-line replies.
~
Lore Adherence
I follow the lore as closely as possible, but the lore is often messy, contradictory, or open-ended. I am open to creative interpretation.
~
Heavy Topics
I enjoy complex, nuanced narrative. This means that I will not shy away from uncomfortable subjects. If you prefer very VERY light RP, we might not be a good fit.

A Word About HooksI'm an extremely flexible roleplayer. If any of these characters seems groovy, please reach out directly, and together we can work out how our characters might've met or where they might bump into each other. With creativity and cooperation, I think it's possible to make most things work, so please don't be afraid to touch base!

Things I'm Not Down With- Body Horror: if you plan to weave a tapestry from someone's intestines, count me out.- Blood n' Guts: combat and violence are fine, but excessive gore is not my jam (think crushed skulls and exploding limbs).- Excessive Sexual Violence: I do not care to see graphic depictions of this. Ever.

Nicolas MontbeliardNicolas was born in the Coerthas Western Highlands to a seamstress named Emilie. An active child, good with animals, Nick also had an ear for music and a love of stories. When he was eleven, Nicolas fell ill with a fever, and his mother soon followed. Though Nick survived...Emilie did not. Unbeknownst to Nick, Emilie had sent a final letter...to Nick's father, the Baron de Montbeliard. The Baron soon arrived to claim his bastard son. Nick was a fast learner, but struggled with the finer points of Ishgardian social niceties.

In time, Nicolas attended the Scholasticate. An affinity for aether-work (particularly Fire) seemed promising; it was generally thought he might join the church. Then came the Calamity.Nick left the Scholasticate to help the family relocate from their country manor (now buried by snow) to Ishgard proper. By the time things were settled, it seemed a little late to return to education.Nick decided to leave Coerthas entirely, and went to make his fortune in Thanalan as a sell-sword.Now he travels, seeking knowledge where he can.

I went out to the hazel wood,
Because a fire was in my head,
And cut and peeled a hazel wand,
And hooked a berry to a thread

"He wondered what the man's name was and where he came from; and if he was really evil of heart, or what lies or threats had led him on the long march from his home; and if he would not really rather have stayed there in peace."- J.R.R. Tolkien, The Two Towers

Madeline MoreauTwenty-seven years past, an errant Ishgardian lordling ran off to the Shroud and took up with a Dusk girl named Isabelle. Eventually, a retainer was sent to reclaim the lordling. He found an abandoned cottage and a sad story. In a drunken fit, the young lord struck his paramour and fled the house...leaving behind Isabelle's corpse and his daughter, Madeline. The Durendaire retainer was at a loss, but felt he could not return without something to show for it.

He brought the girl back to Ishgard. The family wanted nothing to do with her, so David (a Hyuran man) took the girl on as his ward.Madeline was a quiet child. David ensured she knew how to defend herself physically, but was unable to arm her against the words often slung her way: that her skin was too pallid, her hair the wrong shade of purple. So Madeline kept to herself, studying the stars and their movement, the healing arts, and the Enchiridion. She prays to Halone, just as her guardian has taught her.Her father was never found.
